Join SMART Recovery facilitator and author of Inspirational Dissatisfaction, Steve Kind, as he shares highlights of his story of transformation from addiction and dealing, to becoming a leader in SMART Recovery. After years of failed attempts at using 12-step programs to achieve sobriety, Steve found a secular alternative which uses concepts based in REBT (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy). Come hear how Steve turned his life around utilizing the tools of SMART Recovery as he addresses the need for such alternatives. (Book sales and signing during social hour.)
The presentation and discussion will be from 3:00—4:30. Afterwards, join other Secular Saturday session attendees in the gallery for refreshments and socializing.
Presenter: HumanistsMN member, Steve Kind has been free of alcohol and drug problems for five years. He is a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist in the State of Minnesota, the Minnesota Outreach Coordinator for the SMART Recovery National Office, and author of Inspirational Dissatisfaction. Born and raised in Minnesota, Steve brought SMART Recovery meetings to the area and coordinates four weekly meetings with other trained Facilitators.
