Here’s another opportunity to celebrate the winter solstice in humanist style! First Unitarian Society, a humanist congregation, offers an intergenerational and earth-centered celebration of the season in a festive holiday setting. The Midwinter Revels Program includes music, poetry, a rollicking Mummers’ play, and a bit of quiet reflection.
Wassail and holiday treats will be served downstairs afterwards, with opportunities for drumming, walking a labyrinth (indoors), and gathering ’round the Yule fire out on the patio.
Open to the public, all are welcome! Bring a friend, or the whole family, and join this community celebration of the season. Cost is $5. Pay at the door or through Eventbrite.
Audrey Kingstrom, HumanistsMN program coordinator and Humanist Celebrant, has been creator, producer, and director of Midwinter Revels at First Unitarian Society for over 20 years. She draws from the many pre-Christian traditions of northern and southern Europe that have shaped winter holiday celebrations for centuries. FYI — The reason for the season: the axial tilt.
