HABITS OF HUMANISM — “Practice the Pause” through Mindful Living

Join us for this month’s session to explore what it means to “Practice the Pause.” By practicing the pause, we are encouraging ourselves to stop in the moment between a feeling and a reaction. To respond rather than react. How can we strengthen this essential skill — to pause?

“When one thought ends, right before the next thought begins, there is a tiny gap called ‘now.’ Over time we learn to expand that gap” (from meditation teacher, Spring Washam).

We will begin with a guided meditation, followed by discussion. Attendees are invited to share their own life experiences and lessons with the group.

All are welcome in the spirit of compassion as we seek to support one another toward greater well-being.

Each month we explore a different aspect of mindfulness and its associated practice from a secular humanist and naturalist perspective — drawing on the experience and wisdom of participants. This month’s session is facilitated by Carol Allessee, HumanistsMN member and Healing Arts Coordinator at Children’s Minnesota.

This event is sponsored by HumanistsMN. If you are not yet a member, please consider joining to help us cover our costs and build the humanist movement. Not ready to join? Donations are gratefully accepted! Join or donate at humanistsmn.org
