The Minnesota Humanists’ “Western Suburbs Social” is for connecting with like-minded people and making new friends. This is not a singles group or a professional networking group, just a fun way to socialize with fellow humanists.
On Friday, August 25, the next “Western Suburbs Social Humanists” get-together will be to meet in Plymouth at the Hilde Performance Center for a free outdoor concert and you can choose from various food truck and drink options.
Bring your own chair or blanket to sit on.
Gates open at 5 p.m. and I will arrive about 5:30 to try to ‘save a spot’ for our group (if anyone wants to also volunteer to meet me there at this time to help save spots, please direct message me). Please keep your RVSP up to date so we have an accurate idea of how many ‘spots’ to save.
I WILL UPDATE THIS MEETUP PAGE THE DAY OF THE EVENT WHICH GENERAL AREA TO LOOK FOR OUR GROUP.
There are multiple places to access the Hilde, including:
- Plymouth Boulevard between Lifetime Fitness and City Hall
- the far end (north) of the City Hall parking lot
- Behind City Hall (off 34th Avenue N.)
- The south end of the Lifetime Fitness parking lot
Here is more information the City of Plymouth shared about the event:
Fabulous Armadillos headline Plymouth’s free outdoor concert Aug. 25
The City of Plymouth is set to host an evening of free outdoor music featuring the Fabulous Armadillos 6-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25 at the Hilde Performance Center, 3500 Plymouth Blvd.
The concert begins with special guest Tim Haussner, followed by the Fabulous Armadillos, which performs hit song re-creations spanning a variety of genres.
Food trucks will be on site, and beer and wine will be sold by the Plymouth Civic League in support of Music in Plymouth – learn more at musicinplymouth.org. Non-alcoholic drinks will be available from Sobar.
The event is free and open for the public – no tickets or registration are required. Attendees should bring blankets or lawn chairs, as well as cash/credit for beverages and food truck purchases.
From the Fabulous Armadillos: “The Fabulous Armadillos came out of their shell in 2006 and have since established a large and loyal following in Minnesota and beyond with their spot on recreations of songs from many genres of music from Country to Motown to Heavy Metal to 70’s Soft Rock and play them just like you remember. Close your eyes and you are listening to all those vinyl records again or your AM/FM radio … COME OUT OF YOUR SHELL and see what everybody has been talking about!”
This Humanist MN social is open to all, but with a focus on engaging existing dues-paying HumanistsMN members as well as potential new members. If you are not yet a dues-paying member, please consider officially joining to help us cover our costs and build the Humanist movement. Not yet ready to join? Donations are gratefully accepted. Donate or join us at humanistsmn.org.
