The next Think! Book Club event will explore problems with our capitalistic economic system, as discussed in Steven Pearlstein’s book, “Moral Capitalism” (aka “Can American Capitalism Survive?”, same book, different title). Although capitalism is surpassingly good at efficiently creating innovative goods and services, it is lamentably bad at distributing the wealth created by economic activity. There are other problems as well–for instance, dealing with negative externalities like pollution and providing reliable domestic supply chains that can handle a global pandemic. We’ll use Pearlstein’s book as a starting point in our discussion of these and other issues.
“Moral Capitalism” has 205 pages of text and can be purchased in paperback from Amazon for $20. Truth be told, you are welcome to join us even if you haven’t read the book but would like to participate or just listen in on a discussion of these matters.
