In anticipation of planned D-Cubed/D-Squared events on the topic of “Democracy at Risk,” the Think Book Club will take up several recent books addressing this issue. The first, “How Democracies Die” (2018) by Steven Levitsky and Daniel Ziblatt, reports the authors’ research on the rise of authoritarianism around the world and the threats to American democracy posed by the continued influence and machinations of Donald Trump.
“How Democracies Die” has 231 pages of text and can be purchased in paperback from Amazon for $11. Truth be told, you’re welcome to join us even if you don’t read the book, but would like to participate or just listen in on a discussion of these matters.
This event is sponsored by HumanistsMN. If you are not yet a member, please consider joining to help us cover our costs and build the humanist movement. Not ready to join? Donations are gratefully accepted. Donate or join here.
