Time for humanists to show up for the End-of-Life Options Act and support secular values in government! Let our legislators know that we want bodily autonomy at the end of life! The Minnesota End-of-Life Options Act (HF1930) will be heard in the House Health Finance and Policy Committee at the State Office Building in St. Paul on Thursday, January 25 at 1:00 p.m.
This is our first opportunity this legislative session to highlight the bill’s importance, raise public awareness and inform lawmakers. We need your help to fill the hearing room and counter the opposition.
Also, Compassion and Choices is looking for people who are willing to testify (in two minutes or less) before the committee about why they support the End-of-Life Options Act. Please fill out this form if you are willing to testify in person or remotely.
The hearing starts at 1:00 p.m., but in order to secure a seat, we recommend arriving at 11:00 a.m. You can wait outside the hearing room until the doors open. Organizers are expecting a large turnout of opponents, so we need to have a strong presence.
All day parking is available in Lot AA and Ramp F and along Aurora Ave. There is on-street 4-hour parking on Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Disability parking is available in the Minnesota Senate Building (access from Capitol Blvd.) or you can take the Green Line (stop at the Capitol/Rice St. Station). Click here for maps and details on parking.
For more information on the End-of-Life Options Act, go to this webpage from Compassion and Choices.
Hope to see you there, and bring your friends! HumanistsMN is an ally of Compassion and Choices which is organizing supporters of this bill. Let’s show C & C and legislators our humanist power!
