Let’s show up in St. Paul to demand secular government! Do you believe public policy should be guided by reason, evidence, and science? That lawmakers should maintain a secular government, without favoring one religion over another or the religious over the nonreligious? Are you concerned about the rise of Christian nationalism in this country?
If so, please join us to commemorate the National Day of Reason on May 3.
Three humanist organizations are sponsoring a breakfast and reception that will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Vault Room in the State Capitol. You are invited to attend the entire time or to drop in when you can.
Our guest speaker will be Andrew Seidel, vice president of strategic communications at Americans United for Separation of Church and State and author of The Founding Myth: Why Christian Nationalism Is Un-American and American Crusade: How the Supreme Court is Weaponizing Religious Freedom.
All legislators are invited to attend and members of the new Secular Government Caucus will speak. Advocacy and secular groups that support the Day of Reason principles will be tabling and speaking at the event.
A continental breakfast will be served.
NOTE: THE EVENT IS FREE BUT WE ARE ISSUING TICKETS SO WE KNOW HOW MUCH FOOD TO ORDER. PLEASE REGISTER HERE.
Want another chance to see Andrew Seidel? Come to a reception and book signing from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2. Get details and RSVP here.
Our Day of Reason events are free but if you are able to make a donation to help cover speaker and food costs, it would be most appreciated! Contribute here and select “National Day of Reason” in the dropdown menu.
This event is sponsored by HumanistsMN, the First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis, and Or Emet – Minnesota Congregation for Humanistic Judaism.
