Join a HumanistsMN contingent to attend the American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota’s Lobby Day. The ACLU fights for causes that reflect humanist values, including civil liberties, civil rights, social justice, and separation of religion and government. Let’s show up at the State Capitol to lend our support!

The day will start with a rally in the Rotunda, followed by meetings with legislators. ACLU-MN is fighting for a variety of issues in this legislative session, including a bill that HMN has been working on that would ensure that individuals who are legally required to participate in a drug or alcohol recovery program have access to nonreligious options.

The ACLU is also giving priority to these measures:

  • Ending qualified immunity, a legal doctrine that makes it difficult to hold police and other government agents responsible for their actions.
  • Bills to end the use of faulty facial recognition technology by the police.
  • Making it illegal for the police to seize, keep, and sell private property, even when no one is charged with a crime.

The rally starts at 9 a.m. Meetings with legislators begin at 9:45 a.m. for those who are interested. If you plan to attend, register here. Please also RSVP to this announcement.

Look for the HumanistsMN group when you arrive in the Rotunda.
