The Latin phrase, carpe diem, most commonly translated as “seize the day,” was used by the Roman poet Horace to express the idea that we should enjoy life while we can. With meteorological summer nearly half over, we can’t escape the fact that “precious time is slipping away” — in the words of singer-songwriter Van Morrison. During this session, we will pause to reflect on how we are using our time this summer. Are we being mindful of how we pass the hours each day? Are we doing the things — enjoying the things — we intended to this summer?
We will begin with a guided meditation, followed by some reflection on what it means to enjoy life while we can. Come share your thoughts and experience with mindfulness to live each day to the fullest.
All are welcome in the spirit of compassion as we seek to support one another toward greater well-being.
Each month we explore a different aspect of mindfulness and its associated practice from a secular humanist and naturalist perspective – drawing on the experience and wisdom of participants.
