Winter is right around the corner with its potential delights, decadence, and dreariness. As the holiday season approaches with its possibilities and promises, how might we experience the genuine “comfort and joy” foretold in the old carol? Indeed, one need not be religious to long for these sentiments at this time of year and aspire to share them with others.

Join us for some mindful meditation and reflection on our expectations of the season. Where can authentic “comfort and joy” be found in all the hubbub of this overly commercialized holiday? How can a mindfulness practice help us get in touch with our humanity to be both givers and receivers of comfort and joy in a world of need.

We will begin with a guided meditation, followed by discussion. Attendees are invited to share their own life experiences and lessons with the group.

All are welcome in the spirit of compassion as we seek to support one another toward greater well-being.

Each month we explore a different aspect of mindfulness and its associated practice from a secular humanist and naturalist perspective — drawing on the experience and wisdom of participants. This month’s session is facilitated by Audrey Kingstrom, Humanist Celebrant and HumanistsMN Program Coordinator.

This event is sponsored by HumanistsMN. If you are not yet a member, please consider joining to help us cover our costs and build the humanist movement. Not ready to join? Donations are gratefully accepted! Join or donate at https://humanistsmn.org/
