The season of giving is upon us, although as humanists, we try to practice generosity all year long. However, with so many “asks” out there, we often feel overwhelmed and find it difficult to prioritize the needs, non-profits, and causes we want to support.
At this session, we will learn about the Effective Altruism movement, discuss other approaches to giving, and explore various reasons and motivations for doing good in the world. We’ll watch a couple of short videos as discussion prompts and consider possible service projects members of HumanistsMN might take on together.
The videos and discussion will be from 3:00—4:30. Afterwards, join other Secular Saturday session attendees in the gallery for refreshments and socializing.
If you are interested and able, you can also make a cash contribution to help pay for the supplies for the feminine hygiene kits that other Secular Saturday attendees are putting together this day.
This session will be led by Audrey Kingstrom, Humanist Celebrant and Program Coordinator for HumanistsMN.
This event is sponsored by HumanistsMN. If you are not yet a member, please consider joining to help us cover our costs and build the humanist movement. Not ready to join? Donations are gratefully accepted! Join or donate at humanistsmn.org.
