Technology – and COVID – have heightened our tribal tendencies to “other” those unlike us — those who dare to be different or disagree with us. Online culture has become exhausting as we argue with strangers and lose sight of our humanity. Too often we characterize others as “evil” people who must be “destroyed.” Instead, we need to show a little more grace whenever possible as we work to change minds, even our own. With humor and compassion, Seth will help us rethink our response to our antagonists – both online and face to face — and offer some antidotes to our increasingly toxic culture.
Seth Andrews is a broadcaster, storyteller, author, activist, and public speaker best known as host of the popular website, podcast, and online community, The Thinking Atheist. Seth has also authored several books and spoken to audiences large and small in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia about his former faith, the promotion of science and skepticism, the importance of humanism in this often-crazy world, and why we should all pursue a personal relationship with reality.
