This month HumanistsMN welcomes J. Drake Hamilton of Fresh Energy, as our guest speaker. All are welcome! Childcare is available upon request at editor@humanistsmn.org by Tuesday, April 11.
Come learn about the next big steps to electrify Minnesota and how you can help! Hamilton will describe Fresh Energy’s work for laws that will grow the electric vehicles markets, EV charging, and help building owners get expanded electric panels and electric heat pumps for heating and cooling and hot water heating. Fresh Energy is also working toward green hydrogen for use by industries, including agriculture, in our state.
Finally, we’ll hear about J.’s work toward advancing global “Loss and Damage” finance for those nations most susceptible to climate change, and work by the U.N. in encouraging bolder action from every nation at the Climate Summit this fall in the United Arab Emirates.
Join us at 3 p.m. to hear J.’s presentation followed by Q & A. At 4:30 we’ll break for socializing over nibbles and drinks.
If you are unable to attend in person, we plan to live-stream this presentation. We will post the link the day before the event.
J. Drake Hamilton is Fresh Energy’s senior director of science policy. An expert is climate and energy policy at the state and national level, she is driving bold policy solutions for a just, carbon-free future. In November 2022 she showcased Minnesota’s work twice on the global stage at the U.N. global climate summit in Egypt, including leading a multi-national panel. In November 2023 she will bring more leadership to the 28th climate summit in the United Arab Emirates. J. gives 50 invited presentations in Minnesota each year. This May she will receive an award as the leading climate scientist in Minnesota. MSP Magazine named J. Drake Hamilton as “one of the 100 Minnesotans who make things happen.”
