A tribute to Rep. Mike Freiberg and presentation by special guest Fish Stark, executive director of the American Humanist Association
Join us for the Religious Freedom Champions Lunch, where we will honor Rep. Mike Freiberg for his longstanding efforts to promote secular values in the Minnesota Legislature. HumanistsMN will present Rep. Freiberg, co-chair of the Secular Government Caucus, with its 2026 Religious Freedom Champion award.
We will also hear from Fish Stark, executive director of the American Humanist Association, which has taken a lead in the fight against Christian nationalism. As the U.S. veers toward authoritarian government, Stark will discuss “The Cause of America: Religious Freedom and the Fight Against Tyranny.” He will explain how the principle of secular government is central to our centuries-long fight for liberty and justice for all.
Beatrice Handlin, who as a student testified for legislation supported by Rep. Freiberg to end religious discrimination in the state-funded Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program, will also speak.
The lunch is part of a half-day forum of speakers and panels commemorating National Religious Freedom Day by exploring the importance of upholding the constitutional principle of separation of church and state. Attend the program and stay for lunch!
